  • Primer applied as single coat (high build) with double coat of topcoat.
  • Additional primer may be required on rough substrate.
  • Sealer/primer required on porous surfaces.
  • Repaint – primer not required if surface is integrally sound.
  • Rust areas should be properly cleaned & primed.
Note: If hide is not a factor, primer thickness can often be increased with corresponding decrease in the topcoat (thus saving money). Deep, bright red, yellow or blue colours can be achieved by using Starpoxy ™ High Build Primer which is available in bright red, yellow or deep blue. A single topcoat at 1.0 to 1.5 mils DFT is commonly sufficient if primer is increased accordingly.Brush & Roll topcoat applications will approximate 2½ to 3 mils DFT per coat due to greater viscosity. StarpoxyTM primer should roll out at 1½ to 2 mils.
